The Eggishorn is one of the peaks south of the famous Aletsch glacier. it is largest Glacier in Europe and flows south from the Jungfrau at a speed of 50cm per day. Whilst the Eggishorn is quite a bleak and rock strewn place, it is a good vantage point at 2869 metres, to see the glacier and the peaks of the Bernese Oberland. It has easy access via a two stage cable car from the town of Fiesch in the Rhone Valais east of the towns: Matigny and Brig. In the summer months it is much appreciated by hikers; guided walks on the glacier are also available, though not for the faint hearted.
